➤ ‘Blade’ becomes flagship of premium D-Max range
➤ Available from £25,999 and available to order now
Hot on the cooling heels of last year’s special edition Blade model, Isuzu UK has anointed the Blade as its new, and permanent, flagship in its D-Max premium pick-up range.
The special edition D-Max Blade was a marked success for Isuzu last year, with twice as many as the original plan having to be built.
Exclusive to the UK market, the 2015 model year 4×4 double cab Isuzu D-Max Blade is available to order now, from £25,999 for the six-speed manual and £26,999 for the five-speed auto. The Blade is available in ‘Cosmic Black’ as standard, with pearlescent white as an option.
The 2015 D-Max Blade wears cosmetic and tech improvements to help it stand out from last year’s edition. The new model has a ‘shadow’ grille and ‘Cosmic Black’ finishes to door mirror caps, door and tailgate handles. There’s also a soft-close tail-gate damper now fitted as standard.
Other kit includes 18-inch ‘Shadow’ alloys shod with 255/60 R18 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tyres and, without spending a pound more, buyers can choose from an Aeroklas canopy or a ‘Black Mountain Top’ roller cover with rear style bar.
Befitting a top line model, the Blade’s interior has heated leather furniture in front, bespoke side sill scuff plates and carpet mats emblazoned with ‘Blade’ graphics. Piano black trim completes the cabin ambiance.
There’s an eight-speaker, 6-inch Pioneer ICE and navigation infotainment system offering touch screen convenience and a rear camera.
The D-Max Blade is powered by the same 2.5-litre twin-turbo diesel that powers the full D-Max range. It produces 162bhp and a mighty 400Nm of torque, offering class-leading (braked) towing capability of 3.5 tonnes. It returns a reasonable 38.7mpg (combined) and there is a choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
