To bring a touch of Aygo-style flair to the Yaris range, Toyota UK has released a special ‘Orange Edition’ of the popular Yaris hatchback, which will be defined by its Orange Twist metallic paint and additional style and equipment features inside and out.
The special edition is to be released in celebration of the three millionth Yaris to roll off the production lines at the Toyota Europe’s Valenciennes plant in northern France, since production started in 2001.
The edition’s bright orange bodywork accentuates contrasting black detailing such as door mirror casings and a rear pillar to create a floating roof effect. There’s a matte black finish for the front grille surround and a matching set of black 16-inch machined-face alloys. Rear privacy glass and a fixed ‘Skyview’ panoramic roof complete the exterior look.
Inside, there’s a full black-on-black theme going on. The black headlining and instrument panel and new black and grey cloth upholstery are matched by piano black finishes for the air vents, centre console and gear knob. The black carpet mats are hemmed with orange stitching.
Even the HVAC display screen is orange, although I’m not sure that’s deliberate.
The equipment specification is based on the current mid-range Yaris Icon, but adds more toys including cruise control, automatic air conditioning (on the hybrid model), LED rear lights and a rear spoiler. Other attractions are the Toyota ‘Touch2’ multimedia system with touchscreen control, reversing camera, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, front fog lights with chrome surrounds and power windows front and rear.
Available only in a five-door body style, the Yaris Orange Edition is offer three engine choices: 1.33 VVT-i petrol with six-speed manual or CVT automatic gearbox; 1.4 D-4D diesel with manual transmission; and 1.8 VVT-i petrol hybrid.
All are on sale now, with first customer deliveries scheduled for August.
