Alfa Romeo UK has released model pricing and specification details for the much-anticipated Giulia range, with prices starting from £29,180.
The all-new, eight-model Alfa Romeo Giulia range features five trim levels; Giulia, Super, Tecnica, Speciale and the range topping Quadrifoglio and is available in 13 different exterior colour options. There are four engine variants available (two petrol and two diesel), all of which are all paired to a new ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. There is no manual gearbox option on the Alfa.
The Giulia includes new active safety systems such as forward collision warning with autonomous emergency brake with pedestrian recognition, integrated brake system and lane departure warning, all of which contributed to the Giulia receiving a five star Euro NCAP rating. Its 98% protection result for adult occupants is the highest score ever achieved by a car.
The poverty-spec entry level ‘Giulia’ trim is far removed from the breadline in terms of kit and toys. There are 16-inch alloys, LED rear lights, chrome exhaust and aluminium brake calipers. Inside, there’s dual-zone climate control, Alfa ‘D.N.A.’ rotary driving mode selector, 3.5in TFT colour cluster instrument panel, UConnect 6.5in display infotainment system with DAB plus MP3 and Bluetooth connectivity, 8-speaker audio system, rear parking sensors and cruise control. In addition, the Giulia’s leather steering wheel houses all main driver controls including the ignition start button. Available with the 200hp 2.0 litre turbo engine, the ‘Giulia’ trim level is priced at £29,180.
Walking up the trim levels, the ‘Super’ variant adds 17-inch alloys and a dual chrome exhaust tip. Inside, the Giulia Super features an 8.8in 3D navigation with 7in TFT display along with leather and cloth seat trims in three colour options. Engines offered on the Giulia Super are the 200hp 2.0-litre turbo petrol, the 150hp or 180hp 2.2-litre JTDM-2 turbo-diesel. Prices for the Giulia Super range start at £30,750 for the 2.2-litre JTDM-2 150hp turbo-diesel version.
The Tecnica specification leans more towards the needs of the business car sector and adds electric seats, climate pack (cooled glove box, rear air vents and air quality system) and privacy glass. It also adds a driver assistance pack featuring front and rear parking sensors and rear view camera with dynamic gridlines. The engine range comprises the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel with 150hp or 180hp. Prices for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Tecnica start at £30,995 for the 150hp 2.2 turbo-diesel.
Drivers wanting a more sportier presence on the road can upgrade to the Speciale trim level, which features 18in ‘Sport’ alloys, 25W bi-Xenon headlamps, sports front and rear bumpers, a sports rear diffuser, dual chrome exhaust and red brake callipers. Inside the Speciale cabin, there’s aluminium metal sport pedals and footrest, heated and powered front seats, heated steering wheel and leather sports seats. At £34,150, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Speciale is available only with the 2.2-litre 180hp JTDM-2 turbo-diesel engine.
Things get a lot more interesting on the top-of-the-range Quadrifoglio. Leather and Alcantara upholstered sports seats, sports steering wheel with red ignition button, carbon fibre inserts for the interior and aerodynamic exterior spoilers. Comfort and safety features include blind spot monitoring and rear camera as well as 35W Xenon headlights with AFS technology.
The Quadrifoglio also features technical toys intended to maximise dynamic performance: the Alfa active aero splitter system, the dedicated braking system, the Alfa ‘D.N.A. Pro’ selector with race mode that liaises with the Alfa chassis domain control system and Alfa torque vectoring.
Powered by a new 510hp, 600Nm Bi-Turbo V6 petrol engine with an eight-speed paddle shift automatic transmission as standard, pricing for the Giulia Quadrifoglio starts at £59,000.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia range will go on sale in the UK later this year.
