NEWS ➤ Jaguar I-Pace Concept revealed in LA
By Wayne Gorrett

Some days are worth leaping out of bed, rushing through to the home office (sans triple espresso) and assembling a few words, hopefully in some coherent order. Today is one such day.
This morning, we awake to news that overnight Jaguar has revealed its first all-electric production car, the I-Pace Concept, in itself a preview of a pretty much production-ready, all-electric vehicle with ‘supercar looks, sports car performance and SUV space’, scheduled to go on sale in various global markets in 2018.

Apparently, the I-Pace reaches 62mph in a little over four seconds and claims a battery range of over 300 miles, thanks to its 90 kWh battery.
Offering all-wheel drive, the I-Pace Concept features electric motors on both the front and rear axles, with an incredible combined output of 395bhp and a thumping 700Nm of torque. The electric motors and lithium-ion battery pack were designed in-house by Jaguar Land Rover.

From a rival and positioning point of view, the I-Pace is expected to take the luxury EV fight to Tesla’s Model X and slip into Jaguar’s line-up above the F-Pace.
The I-Pace Concept will make its public debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show this week. In the meantime, the final production version will be revealed next year and be on UK roads in 2018.
